Tell It Like It Is

It seems to me that the dating scene on the Interment is getting
a little out of hand. Years ago when it was first introduced,
I think the participants were more sincere about their
profiles and photographs. In today's dating sites,
some people seem to have found an inexhaustible source
for their personal amusement.

They seem to reap a great deal of pleasure from deception.
I have heard of some horror stories and have experienced
a few, myself. For the most part, I think the people who participate
in the Dating Sites are honest, sincere and hopeful about
finding a true mate, companion or friend, but there are
some that are out-right, purposely, deceitful, particularly
among the chatters in the many chatrooms. Many folks turn
to the Dating Sites for legitimate reasons, to find something
that has been missing in their lives or to just have a friend
to talk to, others for their own morbid amusement.

Now don't misunderstand, I'm all for the Dating
Networks, I think they provide a very useful service and
I have been a member of many of them for a numbers of years
with some favorable results. Let me tell you what I mean
when I say "some use the service for their own morbid
amusement". So you have been e-mailing this person
for some time or have been chatting on line, assuming they
were of the opposite sex and by something they wrote or by
reading between the lines or by other methods, you determined
they were not as advertised. Meaning if you are a guy and
you thought you were talking to a lady only to find out she
was a he, now that is disheartening. It happens the other
way around as well.

Another example would be a lady or man posting a photograph
on their profile of someone other than herself or himself.
I have come to believe that those that post no photograph
at all are probably more honest and are more likely to be
as they have represented themselves to be. I know there
are those that will read this and say "hey, we are just
out to have fun and an a good time, no one takes this stuff
serious, " not true, a lot of good people take this
very serious, to many this is their only venue for finding
friendship or romance. People pay good money for the service
and they have a right to expect a reasonable value for their
dollar.

It's impossible, I know but wouldn't it be nice
to be able to participate in the dating game without the
fears I have mentioned. The only way I know to verify who
you are communicating with is by phone or web cam contact,
this is not foolproof but its all we have. Is there any way
to control the deceit, I doubt it but perhaps some of the
Dating Site Operators might at least take a look at the problem.

I applaud the AdultFriends Network and other Dating Sites
for the service they offer and I too use it for a source of
amusement at times but not at the expense of others. I have
made some very good friends, most of which I shall never
meet, others I have met and whose company I have honestly
enjoyed.

This letter was not written as a condemnation of the Dating
Sites but rather an attempt to help make a good thing better.

Thank You!
