An artist, a businessman, and a scientist are discussing
relationships and whether it's better to have a wife
or a mistress.
The artist says it's better to have a mistress. You
have the mystery, the intrigue, the forbidden fruit. It's
so exciting to have a mistress!
The businessman replies that it's far better to have
a wife. You have the stability of the home, someone who will
take care of your children, someone with whom to grow old.
And an intelligent wife will help look after the finances,
as well.
The scientist says it's better to have both a wife and
a mistress. "Both?!" the others exclaim. "Why?"
"Well, " the scientist says, "When you're
not home your wife will think you're with your mistress,
your mistress will think you're with your wife, and
you can go to the lab and get some work done."
